Liga 1 Pre-season Starts Mid-June, PSSI: Audiences Can Attend

JAKARTA - The All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has decided that the 2022/2023 Liga 1 pre-season tournament will take place from mid-June to July.

This was announced after the PSSI held a meeting with PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) as the operator of the competition, as well as several clubs. The meeting was held to discuss and discuss the mechanisms and regulations of the pre-season tournament.

"Today I met with LIB ranks to discuss several things. One of them is about the pre-season tournament, League 1 and 2. There have been several things that have been agreed and some have not. We will continue to work on this," explained PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan from the PSSI page.

Iriawan said the pre-season tournament could already be attended by live audiences. However, Iwan Bule as he is familiarly called has not disclosed the number of spectators who can enter the stadium because it is still related to vaccination status.

"We will coordinate with the government. In this case, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Health, the National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), the COVID-19 Task Force, and the Police regarding what percentage of the audience may enter the stadium. We will follow what the government decides," he continued.

It is planned that this pre-season tournament will be held in four major cities in Indonesia. However, PSSI and PT LIB are still reviewing the names of the stadiums that will be used later.

The plan is that PSSI will also invite spectators to watch the League 1 and League 2 matches live.

As a form of embodiment of better and fairer football, PSSI will also use the services of an additional assistant referee with the fourth and fifth line judges who are positioned behind the goal.
