Manchester City Win Premier League After Dramatic 3-2 Score Over Aston Villa

JAKARTA - Manchester City won the English Premier League this season after beating Aston Villa with a score of 3-2 in the last weekend's match at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester, Sunday.

Having trailed by two goals from Aston Villa through Matty Cash and Philippe Coutinho, Manchester City responded with three goals thanks to Ilkay Gundogan's brace and one goal from Rodri.

Quoted from Antara, Monday, this victory brought Manchester City to the top of the English Premier League standings with 93 points from 38 matches, one point ahead of Liverpool who is in second place.

This success made Manchester City win their fourth Premier League title in the last five seasons, only failing in the 2019/20 season when Liverpool came out as champions.

In the first half, Man City took the initiative to attack first and Gabriel Jesus almost capitalized on an Aston Villa defensive error, but his effort just missed the net.

Man City again threatened this time after Jesus sent a pass to Phil Foden whose shot was sideways on the right side of the Aston Villa goal.

Having been continuously beaten, Aston Villa took the lead in the 37th minute when Lucas Digne's pass reached the head of Matty Cash who was able to find the net from Man City so the score changed to 1-0.

Until the end of the first half, Man City continued to confine Aston Villa, but the discipline of The Villa's defense made the 0-1 score last until halftime.

In the second half, Man City immediately took the initiative to attack and tried to dismantle the Aston Villa defense, but several efforts made by The Citizen's players still did not meet the results.

Man City went two goals down in the 68th minute when Philippe Coutinho scored Aston Villa's second of the game after picking up a pass from Ollie Watkins to make it 2-0.

In the 75th minute, Man City reduced the deficit to 1-2 after Raheem Sterling's cross was headed home by Ilkay Gundogan.

Man City was able to equalize in the 78th minute when Oleksandr Zinchenko's cross was put to good use through Rodri's low shot into the right corner of the Aston Villa goal and made it 2-2.

Ilkay Gundogan scored his second goal of the game and put Man City back 3-2 ahead after receiving a pass from Kevin De Bruyne in the 81st minute.

In the remaining time of the second half, Man City tried to secure the advantage by trying to hold the ball as hard as possible and until the long whistle sounded, the score 3-2 remained.
