Not Just Beaten Up, Yordenis Ugás Experienced Orbital Fractures After Losing To Errol Spence Jr.

Not only that, Ugas even suffered from a fractured orbital bone and it is not yet known how long he will be out of the ring. The orbit is a conical structure that functions to surround and protect the eyeball and communicate with surrounding structures.

Ugas revealed he suffered an orbital fracture during Saturday night's loss to the 147-pound multi-time champion at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. He also apologized to his fans.

"First of all I want to apologize for not coming to thank everyone who supported me personally after the fight, I have a fracture in my eye and in the next few days the doctors will be telling me how they will treat me," he wrote on his social network.

"Last night I spent the whole morning in the hospital and I am writing these words with only one eye, the other still closed."

As the fight progressed, Ugas' right eye began to swell and after an initial consultation with the doctor, he decided to continue his fight against Spence, who in the seventh round had turned the clash into a one-sided duel.

However, in the tenth round, the doctor decided that Ugas' right eye could not see and immediately advised the referee to stop the fight.

"But it was very important for me to write it for you," continued Ugas.

"I want to thank and thank my family, my team, and everyone who supported me. I want to congratulate Errol Spence Jr, a great champion...and to share the ring with him is an honor, he came like [ usually], always strong, and in the last round he hit me in the eye and things got more difficult...the best win in the ring."
