JAKARTA - August will welcome Tiger Woods' return to the Masters' tournament in 2022. That means golf is getting back to one of the greatest of all time.

But outside of golf, Woods is also known for his business activities. His net worth is an impressive number that far surpasses its competitors.

Woods has an estimated net worth of around $800 million by 2022, following success both on and off the golf course.

Even now, after the controversy in his personal life and the car accident that kept him out of action for almost a year, his earnings are still impressive, at $50 million per year.

After earning $2.1 billion in his career, no golfer is richer than Woods. Only Michael Jordan, with an income of 2.62 billion US dollars, can match Woods' earnings.

Woods made his fortune mainly from winning golf competitions, for example, the $2.07 million he won at the 2019 Masters. However, he also derives a significant amount of income from sponsorships and endorsements.

Woods' reportedly $50 million salary is just a starting point, as a 12-month period during 2019/20 saw him rake in $63 million in sponsorship revenue. He earns 10 million US dollars to help design golf courses around the world and can earn up to 1.5 million US dollars just for appearing in golf competitions.

Woods was backed by Nike and signed his first $40 million deal over five years. He signed another deal with the sportswear giant in 2001, worth 100 million US dollars, and another in 2006 which was worth 40 million US dollars a year for eight years.

In 2013, his contract was extended. Although some elements were also cut, but the value reached 200 million US dollars. Other endorsements and sponsors include TaylorMade, Monster, GOLF TV, Bridgestone, Kowa, Hero, Upper Deck, Full Swing Simulators, and Centinel Spine.

Gatorade has also produced a specialty drink, called "Gatorade Tiger" which brought in $100 million over five years, and a Gillette endorsement also brought in $20 million.
