Ahead Of The Mandalika MotoGP, Andrea Dovizioso: This Will Be A Strange Race

JAKARTA - The second series of MotoGP 2022 will be held at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, March 18-20. MotoGP Mandalika will be the first experience for the riders.

WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso said his team will try to get good results at the Mandalika MotoGP. He and the team do not want to go back down like what happened at the Losail Circuit, Qatar, some time ago.

In the Qatar MotoGP race, Dovizioso achieved unsatisfactory results. The Italian rider only finished 14th. He doesn't want to repeat the same mistakes at the Mandalika MotoGP.

"After a difficult first round in Qatar, we really aim to get a better result in Indonesia and will try to avoid the mistakes we made in the first series," said Dovizioso, as quoted by Crash.

Dovizioso said the Mandalika MotoGP would be a strange race. Despite having tried the Mandalika Circuit during the last pre-season test, the former Ducati rider believes the sensation will never be the same again.

The experience of the drivers trying out the Mandalika Circuit during the pre-season test can't be capital. The reason is, there are some circuits whose asphalt has been replaced. Then, the tires that will be used during the Mandalika MotoGP will be different from those used during the test.

"The Mandalika Circuit is a new track for everyone, on it will be new asphalt and new tires compared to what we faced during the tests there, so it will be a strange race," he said.

"Anyway, this is a very good track, so I can't wait to race there," continued the rider who has also defended Honda in the MotoGP event.
