PB Jaya Raya Gives IDR 750 Million Bonus To Hendra Setiawan Et Al Thanks To The Success Of Bringing Home The Thomas Cup

JAKARTA – The Jaya Raya Badminton Association (PB) has distributed bonuses for three of their athletes who helped Indonesia win the 2020 Thomas Cup title.

The three athletes are Hendra Setiawan, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, and Muhammad Rian Ardianto. All three were part of the team that lifted the trophy when the event was held on 9-17 October 2021 at Ceres Aarhus, Denmark.

The distribution of bonuses was carried out by the Chairman of the Trustees of the Jaya Raya Development Foundation, Trisna Muliadi. He gave Rp250 million each to the three athletes they fostered. In total, Rp. 750 million.

"Hopefully in the future there will be more and more other achievements given by the athletes fostered by PB Jaya Raya for their beloved club and of course Indonesia Raya," the club statement said, quoted by Antara.

The Thomas Cup was successfully brought home by Indonesia after beating China in the final match. Garuda team won by a landslide score of 3-0 to end the 19 year famine.

The most prestigious men's team badminton championship trophy was last brought back to Indonesia in the 2002 edition after beating Malaysia, 3-2, in the final match.

The victory in Denmark also brought Indonesia to its status as the country with the most Thomas Cup titles, namely 14 titles, followed by China with 10 titles and Malaysia with 5 titles.

In addition to the three names above, Jaya Raya also gave bonuses to Muhammad Gibran Arfiansyah and Gerardo Rizqullah Hafidz. Both received bonuses thanks to their success in winning the PBSI National Selection on January 10-15 last.

The two athletes received a cash bonus of Rp. 10 million each for each number they participated in. Gibran won in the adult men's doubles and mixed doubles so he was entitled to a 20 million bonus, while Rizqullah, who was paired with Gibran in the men's doubles, brought home Rp. 10 million.
