There Are 6 U-18 National Team Players Called By Shin Tae-yong To Prepare For The U-23 AFF Cup

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong will call five to six U-18 national team players to undergo preparations for the 2022 AFF U-23 Cup.

"There will be five to six players from the junior team," said Shin Tae-yong in Jakarta, Thursday, quoted by Antara.

The South Korean tactician wanted to see the performance of the young players who had participated in the training camp (TC) in Turkey in November 2021.

Then, Shin Tae-yong wanted to give them the opportunity to improve their experience and abilities towards the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

The U-18 national team, which is projected to compete in the 2023 U-20 World Cup, had undergone TC in Turkey in November 2021 and had conducted three test matches there with the result always winning.

In total, the U-18 national team scored nine goals from those matches and conceded only twice.

The U-18 national team players who stood out in those three matches were Ronaldo Kwateh who scored five goals and Ricky Pratama who scored two goals.

The 2022 AFF U-23 Cup will take place in Cambodia on 14-26 February 2022. In that tournament, Indonesia is in Group B with Malaysia, Myanmar and Laos.

Indonesia has the status of defending champion of this tournament after winning it in 2019, at which time the tournament competed with players with a maximum age of 22 years or U-22.
