JAKARTA - Positive news has returned to the Indonesian national team after appearing in the 2020 AFF Cup. After being named the fairest play team, now it's Shin Tae-yong's turn to be followed by slick achievements.

The South Korean coach has just been nominated for the best coach at the 2020 AFF Cup. Shin Tae-yong competes with three other great coaches, namely, Alexandre Polking (Thailand), Tatsuma Yoshida (Singapore), and Park Hang Seo (Vietnam).

Based on information shared on the AFF official website, Shin Tae-yong's position is at the top of the list based on the prevailing voting. Of the 3,189 votes cast, Shin Tae-yong got 53.15 percent of the vote, followed by Hang Seo with 30.67 percent, Polking 13.77 percent, and Yoshida with 2.41 percent.

The release on the AFF website also mentions that Shin Tae-yong is included in the nomination list because his tactical mix has succeeded in bringing Team Garuda too far in the biennial tournament. Under the tutelage of Shin Tae-yong, the national team, which consists of mostly young players, has made it to the final round.

In addition, Shin Tae-yong's flexibility in formulating tactics in every match is also a benchmark for the coach to be nominated. Shin Tae-yong is considered successful as a coach whose strategy is difficult for opposing teams to predict in this 13th edition of the AFF Cup.
