Mourinho On Abraham's Injury: I Only Saw Blood, Nothing More

JAKARTA - Jose Mourinho was frustrated with AS Roma's 1-1 draw with Sampdoria in the Serie A match which was held on Thursday morning. In that match, England striker Tammy Abraham was withdrawn due to injury.

The Giallorossi took the lead in the 72nd minute thanks to Eldor Shomurudov, but their smiles faded after Manolo Gabbiadini scored the equalizer for the Ligurians eight minutes later.

Speaking to reporters in his post-match press conference, Mourinho opened up about what Roma's performance was missing.

"In the first half, there were difficulties at all levels. The team did not concentrate optimally, it was difficult to chase the highest line, lost the ball, little initiative. Only Zaniolo played with intensity and responsiveness," the Portuguese coach was quoted as saying by Football Italia.

"The second half was better, more intense, more pressing, we changed Mkhitaryan's position, we created chances, we scored, we could have scored sooner or later.

"It's very difficult to play against a team that doesn't want to play, who did well to steal points, but for the game itself it was our fault for lack of quality and wrong attitude."

Mou then discussed the physical condition of England striker Tammy Abraham, who was forced off in the 47th minute due to injury.

"I only saw blood, nothing more. He couldn't walk, in the second half, we took a bit of a risk because we lost a substitute. I don't think it's serious, but he's definitely not well," explained the former Tottenham Hotspur coach.

Roma's draw means that Juventus have leapfrogged them in the league table, dropping the Giallorossi to 6th.

Ahead of the Christmas holidays, the Capital Wolves team now sit six points behind 4th place Atalanta. Their next game is away to title challengers Milan on January 6, a tough start to the second half of the season.
