JAKARTA - English Premier League clubs have agreed to resume competition amid the COVID-19 crisis. The condition is that each club has at least 13 players and one goalkeeper who is ready to be deployed. Yes, a very radical approach.

Last weekend, COVID-19 had forced six of the ten Premier League games to be played to be suspended.

The COVID-19 crisis has hit many Premier League clubs and at least ten games have been suspended throughout December because they either did not have enough players in their squad or were prevented from making preparations.

However, the latest report from the BBC quoted by Reuters on Monday stated that the clubs had agreed to resume the competition.

In fact, one of the radical approaches adopted is that each team is still obliged to play their matches if they have at least 13 players and one goalkeeper ready to be fielded.

According to Reuters, the Premier League had not responded to requests for comment on the report and their official website, until the news was published, nor did they have any updates on the status of the competition.

However, the BBC report also suggests there could be adjustments in the FA Cup, with clubs requesting to remove the option of replaying in the third and fourth rounds, and asking Premier League Cup operators to make the semi-finals only one leg.
