There Are 3 Indonesian Representatives In The BWF Player Of The Year Awards 2020/2021 Nomination List

JAKARTA - Three representatives of Indonesian badminton have been nominated for the Best Badminton World Federation (BWF) 2020/2021 best player award.

In the BWF official website quoted by Antara, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the nominations for the BWF Player of the Year Awards 2020/2021 were taken based on the performance of the players during the period from November 1, 2019, to October 31, 2021, and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics became the main focus.

This time, there are two new award categories, namely for the best doubles and the best badminton doubles.

In total there are eight categories of awards for athletes to be given. Of these, Indonesia placed three representatives in three categories.

Greysia Polii/Apriani Rahayu women's doubles have been nominated for the best doubles BWF 2020/2021. The Tokyo Olympic gold winner is competing with South Korean women's doubles Kim Soyeong/Kong Heeyong.

In addition, there is also the name of the Taiwanese men's doubles Wang Chi-Lin/Lee Yang. Then, the two mixed doubles nominees were Wang Yi Lyu/Huang Dong Ping from China and the Japanese pair Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino.

Meanwhile, two other Indonesian representatives who were nominated for the best BWF player for the 2020/2021 season were para-badminton athletes.

In the nomination for the best female para-badminton player, Indonesia placed Leani Ratri Oktila who competed with two Chinese athletes Cheng Hefang and Liu Yutong, as well as Faustine Noel (France), Sujirat Pookkham (Thailand), and Sarina Satomi (Japan).

In addition, Ratri was also nominated for the best para-badminton double with Hary Susanto and competed with Pramod Bhagat/Manoj Sarkar (India), Kim Jungjun/Lee Dong Seop (South Korea), Mai Jianpeng/Qu Zimo (China), Lucas Mazur/Faustine Noel (France), and Sarina Satomi/Yuma Yamazaki (Japan).

The winner of the best BWF athlete award is scheduled to be announced at the HSBC BWF World Tour badminton tournament which is currently still taking place in Bali.
