MGPA Clarifies Ducati Cargo Crate Opening Part Of Custom Clearance

JAKARTA - The Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) has clarified that the opening of the Asia Talent Cup and World Superbike 2021 participants' motorcycle crates at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit is part of the customs clearance procedure or the import of goods that must be carried out.

Previously, news circulated that reported the opening of the motorcycle box for the Indonesian WSBK participant Ducati team from a cargo box inside the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit.

The news even reached the ears of Ducati sporting director Paolo Ciabatti, as quoted by Speedweek and quoted by several national media, who were confused by the issue of the unboxing action.

MGPA's Director of Strategic and Communications, Happy Harinto, said in a press statement on Thursday that all goods brought into Indonesia by Dorna must go through inspection before being allowed to be used.

As is known, the logistics for the WSBK event which took place from 19-21 November arrived at Lombok International Airport earlier this week.

Happy said that according to the procedure, the goods must be inspected and opened by the owner of the goods and/or opened by the forwarder who manages the import and export of the goods with permission from the owner, namely Dorna.

"When the inspection was carried out, the motorbike box was opened by the forwarder witnessed by Dorna and the customs clearance", Happy said, as reported by Antara.

Inspections are carried out to ensure that the goods brought into Indonesia are by the master list. The results of the inspection will later become the basis for examining the goods that will be brought out of Indonesia after the race is over, whether they are by the number and type of goods brought in.

"Unfortunately, when the investigation was carried out, there were parties who were not interested and did not understand the ongoing process, took pictures and went viral with inappropriate news content", Happy added.

The person, Happy emphasized, was not an MGPA employee.

"I make sure the inspection process is carried out according to the procedure", he said.

"This is a very important event, which brings the name of the country to the world, so we try to be orderly in carrying it out", said Happy.

Meanwhile, the executive director of the Dorna World SBK Organization, Gregorio Lavilla, understands what is happening in the field and fully understands that it happened due to the high enthusiasm for welcoming the WSBK event in Mandalika.
