Coordinating Minister Airlangga Leaked The Current Condition Of The Construction Of A BYD Factory

JAKARTA - BYD is one of the producers who is committed to developing an electric car ecosystem by setting up a factory in Subang, West Java. Now, the latest condition of the factory construction process has also been leaked by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

Airlangga said the development of the BYD factory in Subang is only 10 percent left. He also revealed that the Chinese manufacturer made an investment of IDR 11.2 trillion to build its factory.

"The government distributes incentives for the automotive sector of IDR 7 trillion in 2 years and therefore several factories have been committed to construction, BYD has 90 percent (of its factories) investment of IDR 11.2 trillion, production of 150 thousand per year," said Airlangga, quoted from Kadin Indonesia Youtube, Thursday, December 4.

Previously, the Head of Public and Government Relations of BYD Motor Indonesia Luther T Panjaitan also stated that the factory had entered its final stage. It is planned that BYD cars can be produced there in early 2026.

Luther explained that the process of going to factory operations is currently entering an important stage related to certification and cross-ministerial procedures.

"However, there are indeed more processes for certification, certainty of QC, things related to the system in Indonesia, meaning that it is something that is beyond our control," he said.

"But now everything is on track, we will announce it immediately as soon as everything is complete. But we are very confident that in the first quarter we can directly take advantage of the facility," said Luther.

With the direction of increasing sales currently in the range of 10 thousand units per month, BYD assesses that the production capacity of 150 thousand units per year is sufficient to support the market. However, BYD has not leaked what model was first produced locally.
