JAKARTA Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) confirmed that the cyberattack on September 1 had an impact on a number of company internal data. The incident also paralyzed JLR operations globally and stopped Land Rover's car production since then.

In an official statement released on the manufacturer's website on September 10, JLR stated that they had collaborated with the police and cybersecurity experts to restore their internal system. During the forensic investigation process, it was found that "some data" had been affected. JLR promised to contact parties whose data was affected, indicating that the data may be in contact with customers and could potentially be stolen.

"As a result of the ongoing investigation, we are now confident that some of the data has been affected and we are informing relevant regulators," a JLR spokesman told the media, quoted by Autocar, Thursday, September 10.

The spokesperson also added that the investigation continues and they will contact individuals whose data is affected.

This cyber attack caused financial losses estimated at millions of pounds as car production stalled. In addition, other operations such as dealers, car delivery, and spare parts orders were also disrupted. Despite this, JLR dealers are reportedly still operating and recording sales manually.

Meanwhile, the majority of workers at JLR production facilities in West Midlands, Merseyside, Slovakia, and India were told not to return to work. Workers are still getting paid and will be informed every day about the development of the situation.

Until now, there is no definite estimate of when the system will recover completely. Although the JLR public website looks normal, the features for the auto configuration are not working and directs buyers to buy from the available stock.
