The automotive industry is now decorated by various new brands that offer electric vehicles with cutting-edge technology. This environmentally friendly car trend is on the rise considering its ability not to emit carbon emissions.
As more and more electric cars are scattered on the highway, the EV slowly begins to enter the used vehicle market.
Unlike gasoline-engined cars, EVs have several special aftersales programs such as 8-year battery guarantees and lifetime bonds as have been established by automotive brands in Indonesia. However, this has the potential to cause new problems for the sale of seken electric cars.
OLXmobbi Director, Agung Iskandar said that each brand has established different programs such as one brand that states that the guarantee has been binding on the car, then there are also those that are only bound to vehicle owners, so this is a separate problem in the used car market.
"As an example, I take one brand, the lifetime quarantine is more binding in the car, not in the owner. Then, there are other brands that say otherwise. So each brand is different," said Agung at the discussion event of the Automotive Journalists Forum (FORWOT) themed Automotive Financing Opportunities in 2025 at SCBD, Jakarta, Friday, January 24.

Then, Agung explained that the current used EVs that were sold were around 2-3 years old, such as Wuling Air ev and Hyundai Ioniq 5 whose guarantees had tied to his car.
In general, the former EV car is currently 3 years old, namely Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Wuling Air ev and at that time there was still no livetime quarantine. So, in the former warranty, it was still the usual one and it tied to the car, not the owner, "added Agung.
Although still tied to his car, Agung explained that the warranty could not be valid at any time because the previous owner did not carry out routine services when his EV was about to be sold to the next user.
"But there are still records that official service must be routine. However, when they want to be sold, average owners in Indonesia are lazy to do routine services that cause their warranty to die," said Agung.
Thus, Agung suggested that used EV car sellers take care of and maintain letters ranging from BPKB, STNK, to service records that already exist in vehicles so that the selling value is higher.
"My advice for sellers who want to sell well, make sure all binding documents are properly maintained and service is routinely maintained so that this becomes added value for the car and proves the car has been properly cared for and the service record is well maintained," concluded Agung.
