JAKARTA - Two well-known automotive companies from Korea, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation announced a strategic partnership with Samsung Electronics to increase integration between software-defined vehicles (SDV) and smartphones.

As a result of this agreement, both Hyundai and Kia will develop organic technology that connects SDV and the smartphone ecosystem using Samsung's 'SmartThings'.
By integrating with the global Internet of Things (IoT) platform, they aim to enrich the customer mobility experience, connect the entire process of using vehicles to smartphones and accelerate the transition to real SDV.
The new system will also introduce a vehicle location verification service now expanded via a link to a SmartThings Find that tracks global vehicle locations.
This service can be accessed via a crowdsourced network of hundreds of millions of Samsung Galaxy devices that use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to report its location, without any restrictions on mobile range.
