EV Center: Answer To The Challenges Of Electric Mobility In Indonesia?

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (Periklindo) Moeldoko previously said that Electric Vehicle (EV) Center of Indonesia is currently being prepared or the center of electric vehicles.

The plan to build an EV Center in seven major cities was welcomed by GAIKINDO Chair I, Jongkie Sugiarto. This EV Center will be built in Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Batam, Makassar, Medan and Denpasar. The EV Center later is not just a space that displays electric vehicle products for sale, it will further become an educational space to better understand the EV industry.

Jongkie Sugiarto sees the center of this electric vehicle as a solution for consumers who want to explore the world of electric cars.

"With the EV Center, people can easily compare various electric car brands and models in one place. This will encourage public interest to switch to more environmentally friendly vehicles," Jongkie said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 13.

However, Jongkie reminded that people's purchasing power is still a major challenge. The relatively high price of electric cars makes it difficult for most consumers to reach.

ITB auto observer Yannes Pasaribu agrees. He added that unstable global economic factors also affected purchase decisions.

"The EV Center is indeed important to raise awareness, but a wider economic factor remains the main determinant," Yannes said.

Even so, both Jongkie and Yannes are optimistic that with the EV Center, the future of electric vehicles in Indonesia will be brighter.
