Toyota Will Restore FJ Cruiser, Positioned Under Fortuner And Prado

JAKARTA - Toyota FJ Cruiser or LandCruiser FJ has been stopped production in 2022, but it is rumored that this medium-sized SUV will get the latest generation.

Reporting from CarsGuide, Monday, September 2, the car will use the latest HiLux powertrain which combines 2.8 liter turbo diesel engines. Another interesting thing, FJ Cruiser will rely on the 48V millid-hybrid system.

Although this mild-hybrid system functions in reducing fuel use, it is estimated that its power will become larger. As an illustration, the HiLux, which carries the 48V system, gets 150 kW of power and a maximum torque of 500 Nm.

However, it is possible Toyota will offer pure ICE engine variants in some markets. The car is expected to be present in the Australian market with a diesel variant with a 2.8 liter capacity engine.

However, Toyota has not confirmed the model for the Ethiopian country market. However, the brand has filed a trademark under the name "FJ" for the outside market some time ago.

Australian Toyota Vice President Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley, said that it was possible that his party would use the name but he did not want to comment further on this matter.

"It didn't surprise me because we have many trademarks. We might want to use them again one day, but I don't know anything," said Hanley.

However, Hanley added that at this time it does not have a plan to bring this small version of the Land Cruiser to the Australian market and only focus on the models on sale.

"This may happen in the future. Because we are going through a major transition in the automotive industry and this cannot be ruled out," added Hanley.

Although the information is still very limited, it is hoped that the latest FJ Cruiser will adopt the same IMV platform as HiLux Champ or Rangga, replacing the TNGA-F architecture.

The car is expected to be an off-road vehicle at affordable prices under Fortuner, Prado, and LC300. It is estimated that the initial price will reach 50.000 Australian dollars (IDR 525.3 million).
