Subaru Files An E-Outback Trademark In Japan, Hybrid Car Or Pure EV?

JAKARTA - Subaru currently only sells the Solterra model as a globally sold electric vehicle (EV) that takes a base from Toyota bZ4X. But it turns out that it doesn't make the manufacturer with the six star logo satisfied to present another electrification line in the future.

Reporting from the AutoGuide written by InsideEVs, Thursday, August 22, Subaru has filed its newest electric car trademark with the e-Outback' monicer in Japan. A trademark application was filed in early August and published today.

Naming e-Outback is likely for Subaru's future hybrid car. Of course this is a gamble that brands have to do considering that the hybrid is more popular than the recent Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV).

Unfortunately, further information about the model is still unknown. There are several possibilities for such names to be fully hybrid or EV models.

Subaru has the potential to re-use its partnership with Toyota to develop future electrification models by launching three electric SUVs for the United States (US) market.

This is a reasonable move given that the Subaru brand is not as big as other manufacturers such as Toyota or Volkswagen which have very high costs and resources.

The cost of research and development needed to create electric vehicles from scratch is huge, as well as the investment needed to reconfigure the factory that previously made vehicles with internal combustion.

In order to save on potentially swelling expenses, Subaru will rely on technology from Toyota. However, they also insist that they do not depend on their partners forever.

In addition, Subaru has previously proposed a new trademark in the US consisting of Accomplice, Everguide, Everpass, Getaway, Highroad, Hightrain, Outsider, Tailwind, Trailhead, Trailseeker, Uncharted, and Viewfinder.

Most likely, these new models will come in the form of crossovers, following current global market trends. Subaru also wants to catch up in the electrification segment by strengthening her future lineup with the latest hybrid, Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), or EV options.
