Hybrid Incentives Are In Thailand, Nissan Will Produce More Hybrid Vehicles In Thailand

JAKARTA - Nissan is one of the manufacturers that intends to increase its electrification vehicles globally, either through the development of pure electric vehicles (EVs) or with a hybrid e-Power system.

Indeed, there are not many hybrid vehicles owned by Nissan. In fact, this Japanese manufacturer only has an e-Power Kicks model for the Southeast Asia region (ASEAN). However, it is reported that this automotive manufacturer will allocate greater resources for hybrid in Thailand.

Launching Top Gear Philippines, Thursday, August 8, manufacturers will produce more vehicles with e-Power technology in the country of white elephants due to tax incentives introduced by the Thai government. Tax cuts aim to encourage the production of hybrid and EV vehicles in the country. However, Nissan did not mention the names and types of further models.

This is also reinforced by the statement by the President of Nissan Thailand, Toshihiro Fujiki. He said that the brand would present more hybrid models built at the Samut Prakan facility, Thailand.

"We will launch five car models between 2025 and 2027 and are considering which models to be made in Thailand," Fujiki said.

While it is still uncertain what model will be produced, Serena is one of the strong candidates as a vehicle to be produced in Thailand. What's more, the latest Serena has adopted an e-Power system and interest in hybrid vehicles in the country is so high.

This medium-sized MPV car was only officially sold in Indonesia at the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) some time ago. This launch is said to emphasize Nissan's latest achievements and future vision in the field of electrification.
