Porsche Taycan Around The World Affected By Recall, Here's The Problem

JAKARTA - Bad news came from Porsche. This sports car specialist manufacturer announced a recall involving the Taycan model around the world due to braking system problems.

The German brand noted that there was a problem with the braking hose at the front which experienced a number of cracks causing the brake oil to leak. Thus, this can reduce the brake pressure and the effectiveness of the system.

Autocar reported on Thursday, June 27, that the brand has not disclosed the number of vehicles affected. But to date, Porsche has sold as many as 150,000 units globally since this model was launched in 2020.

Taycan Project manager Kevin Giek, said that his party had conducted a number of analyses on the quality in the internal section and determined that this failure could occur in just a few cases.

"Security is our top priority, so we decided we needed to optimize the brake hose at the front double and decide on a new construction," said Giek.

He added that his party would make a number of changes starting from redesigning the latest hoses, braking points, and kinematics. Porsche believes this failure can be minimized by this change.

Porsche Taycan, who had this mistake, will display a warning light on the dashboard. If the owner sees this warning sign, then the car is rushed to take it to the dealer network.

Meanwhile, if vehicle owners see a red light appearing on the indicator, they must contact Porsche and are advised not to use their vehicle.

If customers get a warning, they bring and ask the workshop for a date and maintenance. But the rest is functioning well," added Giek.

The manufacturer said the problem was identified at less than 1 percent of all Taycan models sold globally since its launch in 2020.

This is not the first time the model has been affected by the recall program. Previously, Porsche announced that Taycan was damaged in battery modules.

This causes models like the Audi e-tron to also be affected by sharing the same battery module as the Porsche Taycan. Both have started an investigation with the LG Energy Solution WroClaw as battery suppliers.
