Kia Carens Gets Three Stars In NCAP Global Collision Test, This Is The Cause

JAKARTA - Recently, the Kia Carens model obtained a three-star safety assessment after conducting a hit test by the Global New Car Assistment Program (Global NCAP).

Although the results obtained by Carens may be the same as the last time, this time Kia volunteered for Carens to be tested based on the new protocol.

According to India's Autocar alert, Wednesday, April 24, this MPV only obtained zero-star results in testing the protection of adult passengers with the latest protocols. When Carens was tested based on the new protocol, it was noted that the protection given to the driver's neck was poor, while the protection on the driver's chest, as well as the knee of the driver and passenger was not very good on the model between May 2 December 11, 2023.

Global NCAP revealed that this must be improved by Kia in order to improve neck protection performance. Nevertheless, the model, which was created after December 11, 2023, recorded a good increase and received a three-star title with a score of 22.07 out of 34.

However, Global NCAP also mentioned that this performance is not what this institution expects because Carens offers six airbags as standards.

"We expect better performance in re-testing considering Carens is equipped with six airbags as standards," said Global NCAP Secretary General Alejandro Furas.

For the child passenger protection score, this car received a 4 or 40.92 star score from 49 in the first round. In addition, the upgraded safety system received a score of 41 out of 49 so that it posted a five-star assessment.

Currently, Kia Carens is equipped with a number of safety devices, namely Electronic Stability Control (ESC), rear parking sensors, hill-start assists, rear-disk braking, three-point seat-belt for all seats, and ISOFIX.
