JAKARTA - At the end of 2023, Daihatsu temporarily postponed production activities at its factory due to the hit-test scandal that affected several of its previous models.

However, following the incident, the brand has decided to resume production and delivery of nine models, which include vehicles from Daihatsu, Toyota, and Subaru, at the end of January.

Recently, this production activity was continued with several other models. The company has decided to restart production and delivery of its three main models, namely Daihatsu Rocky, Toyota Raize, and Subaru Rex, which are produced at the Shiga Factory (Ryou).

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation, and Tourism (MLIT) is expected to revoke the suspension period for this production in March.

As a well-known compact and tiny-dimensional vehicle manufacturer, Daihatsu has also made sure to take the necessary action in accordance with instructions from MLIT, including testing with certification authorities.

"With a strong determination, we are committed to ensuring these models are immediately available to our customers, while emphasizing the importance of safety and quality," Daihatsu wrote in its official statement, Friday, February 23.

Previously, the incident had resulted in the discovery of 174 new cases in 25 testing items, which occurred beyond the manipulation of the post-side crash test in May. Reports state irregularities in 64 models and 3 machines, including models that are under development and whose production has been halted.
