JAKARTA - Mitsubishi Motors plans to launch 16 new cars (9 of them electric, including electric pickup trucks) in the next 4-5 years through the Challenge 2025 program.
But before that they are now focused on other things that are no less important: smart charging services! In collaboration with MC Retail Energy and Kaluza, they recently tested a new system to reduce EV charging costs in Japan.
Launching CarBuzz, February 19, this smart system automatically seeks the best time to charge, which is when the electricity price is low. Interestingly, the owner of Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV does not need to buy additional tools! Just use a smartphone application that is connected to the Kaluza platform. This application then calculates the optimal charging schedule, according to the user's wishes and the lowest electricity price.
Users also need to subscribe to a special package from MC Retail Energy and this system is directly integrated with the Mitsubishi Motors system, so there is no need to buy a special device.

The Mitsubishi and Kaluza collaboration itself has begun in February 2023, aiming to reduce overall energy costs and create a more attractive charging environment for EV users.
Currently, Mitsubishi only has PHEV Outlanders as its electrification model. The hope is that this smart charging system will not only be successful in Japan, but also expand around the world. And of course cheap EV charging services can clearly attract new and old consumers, especially when the company starts to get serious about its electrification model.
