This Is Hyundai's Step To Expand The Environmentally Friendly Ecosystem In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Since launching Ioniq 5, Hyundai has started to shift its focus on electrification and is now ready to compete in that segment.

This is also what PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) does. The distributor of Hyundai vehicles in Indonesia is not only presenting EVs, but also contributing to developing a green environmental ecosystem.

Francis Soerjopranoto as PT HMID's Chief Operating Officer said this year his party will continue to strive to strengthen its infrastructure, starting from presenting a charging station to creating local components on its electric vehicles.

"For EVs, Hyundai is known to not only develop its vehicles, but also charging stations and will use local factories that will soon operate this year so that we can produce products with local components that can reach 60 percent," said Soerjo when explaining the company's vision in Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 6.

Adding what Soerjo said, Budi Nur Mukmin, as the Chief Marketing Officer of PT HMID said that charging stations are the main focus and concern for EV users in Indonesia. With this additional service, it is also expected to reduce consumer concerns.

"We have more than 200 facilities in shopping areas, dealers, and rest areas for Indonesian territory and in the future this will be added," explained Budi.

No less important, this South Korean manufacturer also shows its commitment to building a green ecosystem, one of which is utilizing local battery cell assembly facilities in Karawang, West Java, operated by HLI Green Power.

"One of Hyundai's commitments is to optimize local battery cell assembly facilities in Karawang," said Budi.

Budi also explained that the factory can carry out production activities of up to 10 GWH per year or equivalent to the production of 150,000 EV units and it is hoped that this can accelerate the development of Indonesian electric vehicles.
