Toyota Rush Stop Production In Malaysia, What About Indonesia?

Shocking news came from the Toyota Rush model which was sold in Malaysia. UMW Toyota Motor, as a distributor of Toyota vehicles, confirmed that the car in the Low Sport Utility Vehicle (LSUV) class was stopped production for the neighboring country market.

Reporting from Paultan, Friday, January 5, the car is known to have been removed from the official UMWT website. Thus, the company crossed out this model from the sales list after five years of showing its existence in the country.

It is actually experienced by his twin, Perodua Aruz or brother Daihatsu Terios in Indonesia, which will continue to be sold in the Malaysian market. These two models are assembled in the same facility by Perodua in Rawang and the transmission is made in Sendayan, Land of Nine.

In Malaysia, the Toyota Rush is offered with two variants, namely 1.5 G for 88,314 ringgit or equivalent to Rp294.8 million and 1.5 S with a tag of 91,885 ringgit or equivalent to Rp306.7 million. With Rush production stopped in neighboring countries, what about units in Indonesia?

Responding to this, Anton Jimmi Suwandi, as Marketing Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), said that the LSUV will still be sold in Indonesia in the near future considering that the sale of this model is going quite well.

"Currently we are selling Rushes, and the sales performance is still good," Anton told VOI, Friday, January 5.

According to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) during January-November 2023, this third-generation Toyota Rush has been sold for a total of 34,944 units and is one of the best-selling products of this Japanese manufacturer in the country.

Presented in two variants, namely G Type and GR Sport, this model starts to be priced at IDR 282.7 million to IDR 306.1 million DKI Jakarta OTR.
