JAKARTA - Along with the development of technology, various manufacturers are competing to present cheaper and lighter electric car batteries, including electric car manufacturer Rivian, which has this ambitious plan.
Reporting from the InsideEVs page, Thursday, December 7, Rivian's Chief Financial Officer, Claire McDonough, announced the development of a new battery package planned to be launched next year. In an interview, McDonough stated that Rivian plans to release a new battery on R1 vehicles by 2024, as well as launch a standard battery pack in the same year.
"This will greatly simplify the structure of the modules and battery packages that we will build, reduce the cost of thousands of dollars, reduce the masses, and facilitate production and assembly processes in vehicles," explains McDonough.
Furthermore, McDonough emphasized that the presence of this new battery will be one example of the implementation of renewable technology that will be implemented next year.
"This will also be a key factor in increasing operational efficiency and reducing costs, which will be realized through the introduction of this technology," he added.
McDonough stated that not only will the production cost of the new battery be lower, but this battery will also be lighter and easier to build than the current Rivian battery pack.
