Toyota Sales And Production Increase Globally In September 2023, Indonesia Has Decreased

Toyota, the world's largest automotive company, announced a 1.5 percent increase in production in September compared to the same period the previous year, with total production reaching 900,919 units. This achievement is mainly influenced by strong demand in Japan, the US and Europe.

According to a Reuters report on Monday, October 30, domestic production of the Japanese automaker accounted for more than a third of the total vehicles produced in the month, an increase of 12.8% compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, foreign production decreased by 3.6%.

Toyota also recorded a significant increase in global sales of 11.6 percent from the same period the previous year, with total sales reaching 921,308 vehicles. This achievement marks the achievement of record both in sales and production that month.

To date, Toyota has managed to sell more than 7.5 million units of vehicles over the first nine months of this year, including the Lexus brand. Domestic sales increased by 20.5% in September, while sales in the United States rose by 14%, and sales in Europe increased by 18.1%.

However, in areas such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, sales decreased in September due to challenging economic conditions. In China, the largest market for Toyota cars, the manufacturer reported a production decline of nearly 7%, although sales were reported to be slightly higher than the previous year.

Meanwhile, based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), car sales in Indonesia showed a decline in September 2023, with total wholesale sales reaching 79,883 units, down 10.1 percent compared to August 2023 which recorded 88,878 units.

Of the total sales in September of 79,883 units, Toyota managed to sell as many as 25,928 units. Although it managed to maintain the top position, Toyota's sales figure decreased when compared to August 2023 which reached 30,149 units.
