Moeldoko Praises The Development Of Electric Vehicles And Local Battery Industry In Indonesia

The Presidential Chief of Staff, Dr. Moeldoko, assessed that the development of the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle (KBLBB) ecosystem in Indonesia brings fresh air to the domestic battery industry.

Currently, he said, the nation's children are competing to conduct research to be able to produce electric motorcycle batteries so that they can become players in their own country.

"This is proof that the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem has triggered the growth of the domestic battery industry. Of course we must continue to encourage and encourage this," said Moeldoko when he saw firsthand the production of local electric vehicle batteries, in Malang, East Java, Friday, August 11.

According to Moeldoko, local electric vehicle battery manufacturers are not enough to only meet TKDN one hundred percent. However, it must also be able to answer issues related to batteries. Such as regarding capacity and durability, charging duration, price, and security.

"Currently, the existing batteries are not far apart, the charging is long, expensive, and can be burned. Now these issues must be answered," he said.

For this reason, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (Periklindo) emphasized the importance of in-depth research before entering the factory phase.

"Of course this is a challenge. But great opportunities that change all games are in front of our eyes, and the game changer is called an electric motorcycle battery," he said.

On that occasion, Moeldoko also tried out the electric motorbike using local product batteries directly. He was also impressed when he heard that the battery TKDN content was one hundred percent.

"Other advantages are that there is no liquid, so it is safe from fires. The distance can also be up to one hundred kilometers more. We must appreciate the work of the nation's children," he said while remasing the electric motorcycle standard.
