JAKARTA - The largest automotive exhibition in Southeast Asia, Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023, officially opened on Thursday, 10 August 2023. GIIAS 2023 will last for ten days, from August 10-20, 2023.

GIIAS 2023 is present on a larger scale compared to the previous editions. The leading automotive exhibition in Southeast Asia will feature the participation of 49 motor vehicle manufacturers, recording the highest number in the history of GIIAS.

At the 30th GIIAS, 49 vehicle brands will take part, including Audi, BMW, Chery, Citroen, Daihatsu, DFSK, GWM Tank, Haval, Honda, Hyundai, KIA, Lexus, Maxus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MG, MINI, Mitsubishi Motors, Neta, Nissan, Ora, Porsche, Seres, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo and Wuling.

The commercial vehicle industry is also participating, with brands such as Hino, Isuzu, Mitsubishi Fuso, Toyota Commercial and UD Trucks. Motorcycle brands will also be celebrating this annual event, including Alva, Aprilia, Astra Honda Motor, Benelli, Exotic and Harley-Davidson.

In addition, other brands such as Lon Mobility, Keeway, Motoguzzi, Pacific, Piaggio, Polytron, Royal Enfield, Segway and Vespa also participated. Not to forget, there are 3 Karoseri brands, namely Adiputro, Laksana, and Tentrem.

General Chairperson of Gaikindo, Yohannes Nangoi, is proud to reveal that so many manufacturers took part in this exhibition after the Indonesian automotive industry began to recover.

"Since it started in 1986, it is an honor for Gaikindo to continue to hold this event and showcase various achievements of the Indonesian automotive industry," Nangoi said at the opening of GIIAS 2023 at ICE BSD, Tangerang.

Nangoi also highlighted the positive results achieved by the Indonesian automotive industry during 2022. He explained that wholesale vehicle sales grew by around 18 percent from the previous year, and Indonesia was ranked 11th globally.

"Thanks to the support of the Indonesian government, the Indonesian automotive industry is able to achieve extraordinary achievements in 2022, even exceeding pre-pandemic levels," explained Nangoi.

GIIAS 2023 has the theme "Future Now" which describes the introduction of the latest technology from various participating brands.

"GIIAS 2023 presents dozens of models with the latest technology from the Indonesian automotive industry, including electric vehicles which will be introduced to GIIAS visitors this time," added Nangoi.

The GIIAS 2023 opening ceremony was also attended by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto and the Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita.

Airlangga hopes that through GIIAS 2023, the automotive industry can continue to develop for the better.

"With the theme Future Now, we hope that future achievements in the Indonesian automotive industry can exceed current conditions," said Airlangga.

GIIAS 2023 will showcase more than 250 vehicles, including 9 global debuts. This event will also be a platform for the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) to introduce 60 concept cars in Indonesia.

Visitors can buy tickets to attend GIIAS 2023 through the Auto360 application. Ticket prices on weekdays are IDR 50,000, on weekends IDR 100,000, and specifically on August 17 for IDR 78,000.
