Not long ago a tragic incident occurred at SMPN 132 Cengkareng (State Junior High School). A student fell from the 4th floor of the school. This incident gave rise to speculation and questions. How did this incident happen? What lessons can be learned to improve safety in the school environment?

KPAI immediately responded to this incident. His party promised to take firm steps if there was any negligence related to this incident. KPAI also ensured that the student was not a victim of suicide or other people's actions. However, questions regarding the exact cause of this incident still hang.

According to police reports, the student fell from the 4th floor because he wanted to smoke, although this report still raises doubts. Authorities did not find cigarette butts on the 4th floor of SMPN 132 Cengkareng, making this an unsolved mystery.

This tragedy reminds us of the importance of safety in the school environment. Schools should be safe places for students, where they can learn and grow without physical threats.

However, the question is, have the necessary steps been taken to ensure the safety of students in schools?

The government has issued clear and comprehensive regulations regarding safety in schools. The Ministry of Education and Culture has encouraged local governments and parents to protect students from violence. Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 82 of 2015 concerning Prevention and Management of Acts of Violence in Educational Unit Environments stipulates that educational units must guarantee the security, safety and comfort of students during school activities.

It seems that the implementation of this regulation still requires improvement. Apart from that, bullying in the school environment is also an important issue related to safety. Bullying in schools has become an emergency problem in Indonesia and needs to be handled more seriously than the "Freedom to Learn" program. Schools should be places for academic learning as well as safe places for students. Bullying can harm students, not only physically but also emotionally.

KPAI has promised to take firm action if there is any negligence related to the incident at SMPN 132 Cengkareng. However, preventive measures should be taken early. Safety in the school environment and efforts to prevent bullying must be a joint concern of the government, schools, teachers, parents and society.

The tragedy at SMPN 132 Cengkareng should be a reminder that student safety at school is a shared responsibility. Concrete actions must be taken to ensure that every student can learn and grow without fear of physical harm or bullying.
