JAKARTA - Indonesia has locked the runner-up title of the 2025 Cerebral Palsy Asia Oceania IFCPF after losing 0-2 to Iran in the final at the Sriwedari Stadium, Solo, Saturday night.

Two Iranian goals in the match were scored by Amirhossein Ghorbani (15') and Alireza Ahmadimoghadam (33').

The coach of the Indonesian cerebral soccer team, Yanuar Dhuma Ardhiyanto, said that his squad's achievements were proud because initially Indonesia was not favored to reach the final.

In addition, Iran is the champion of the 2024 Cerebral Palsy Asia IFCPF World Cup.

"It was an incredible match. Friends have struggled to the fullest throughout the match," Yanuar was quoted as saying by ANTARA.

In that match, Yanuar assessed that his players were able to make Iran overwhelmed. The Garuda squad can also dominate the match, especially in the second half.

However, Iran could take advantage of two chances to become goals and survive solidly so that their victory was unstoppable.

Despite losing, Indonesia as the finalist of the Cerebral Palsy Asia Oceania IFCPF 2025 Ball Championship is entitled to a ticket to the 2026 IFCPF World Cup.

"Now we already have a benchmark against the team that is the world champion. So we will improve the quality of the game when appearing in the 2026 World Cup," said Yanuar.

The Indonesian national team also appreciated the support of supporters in Solo who continued to encourage them from the first match to the final.

Meanwhile, the captain of the Iranian team, Hassan Safari, said the match against Indonesia was difficult to win.

"We are certainly happy to be able to defend the title which we also won two years ago in Melbourne. However, this final is really very difficult. Indonesia has a very good game organization. I hope that Indonesian cerebral football can continue to grow. We are happy to see a new team in the Asia Oceania region," said Hassan Safari.

Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee Indonesia (NPC Indonesia), Senny Marbun, appreciates the success of the Indonesian palm soccer team reaching the final of the 2025 Asian Oceania Championship.

Senny also emphasized that his party will continue to oversee the preparations of Indonesian players towards the 2026 IFCPF World Cup.

"I promise Indonesia will put up a very extraordinary fight at the 2026 World Cup in the United States," said Senny Marbun.
