JAKARTA The defending MotoGP champion, Jorge Martin, managed to undergo a broken left hand operation after he was confirmed to have missed the first race of the season.
The rider, who had just joined the Aprilia Racing team, went up to the operating table in Barcelona, Spain, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, local time.
Aprilia in an official statement quoted on the MotoGP website confirmed that the driver underwent surgery at the Dexeus Clinic and was handled by Professor Mir and his team.
"This procedure was successfully completed by implanting two screws at the radius fracture level and one at the left-handed skaphoid level for stabilization and facilitating the healing process."
"Difference is carried out through a perkutan approach with the help of artroscopy. In the next few days, the prognosis will be evaluated based on Jorge's clinical condition," Aprilia said in a statement.
