Anto Boyratan Ukir History Becomes The First Indonesian Basketball Player In NBL 1 Australia

JAKARTA Anto Boyratan made history as the first basketball player from Indonesia to play for NBL 1 South or the Australian Basketball League I after he joined the Dandenong Rangers.

The 23-year-old basketball player officially signed a contract as an Asian importer to defend Dandenong in the 2025 season which will begin in March 2025.

"I am honored to be able to join Dandenong Rangers and compete in NBL1 Australia," said Anto as received in an official statement from Perbasi Public Relations.

Anto is one of the best players in Indonesian basketball in recent years. He played an important role in bringing Pelita Jaya to the 2024 IBL and IBL Oasis All-Indonesian Championship titles.

In addition, the player with a height of 196 centimeters from Makassar has a brilliant track record at the university level.

He was recorded as successfully winning several National Student League titles with the University of Perbanas and performed brilliantly at the 2024 National Sports Week (PON) in Aceh-North Sumatra with the South Sulawesi team.

"This is a big step in my career and I am very enthusiastic to face the challenges in this competitive league while bringing Indonesia's name to the international stage," said Anto.

Anto had spent the last four months at the Las Vegas Impact Basketball after the winning season in Indonesia.

While there, he trained at the elite level to develop skills and build physically to face competition at a higher level.

Anto's journey, starting from Makassar to Jakarta, Las Vegas, and now to Dandenong, reflects the wider opportunities for talented athletes from Indonesia.
