JAKARTA The German Open 2025 badminton event will take place this week. Indonesia has as many as nine representatives who will appear in the tournament.

The German Open 2025 will start from Tuesday, February 25, 2025, to Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Westenergie Sporthalle, Mulheim, Germany. This event provides a total prize of 210 thousand US dollars.

This is a Super 300 BWF level tournament. However, a number of top badminton players will play there, one of which is former world number one, Viktor Axelsen.

Indonesia on the other hand keeps all the names of elite players. Men's singles Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung were not dispatched.

Apart from not sending the best squad, Indonesia also decided not to send representatives in the men's doubles. So, the representatives who left there were only spread across four sectors.

Mixed doubles numbers dominate with the most representatives. The total sector sent five pairs, followed by the men's singles of two representatives, and singles and women's doubles each had one representative.

The mixed doubles sent were Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, Adnan Maulana/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil, Marwan Faza/Aisyah Salsabila Putri Pranata, and Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah.

The remaining four representatives are Alwi Farhan and Yohanes Saut Marcellyno (men's singles), Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi (women's singles), and the women's doubles pair Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Alllessya Rose.

The German Open 2025 will open with a qualifying round on the first day. Yohanes Saut Marcellyno is the only Indonesian representative to fight from that round.
