DPP Perbasi Sanctions Perpetrators Of Beatings In Bogor

JAKARTA The Central Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association (DPP Perbasi) has imposed a suspension of a two-year ban on basketball to Reynardwas Sudirja.

Reynard Sudirja was the perpetrator of the beatings in a basketball match between students who brought together SPMN 1 Bogor against SD Mardi Waluyo at the SDH Basketball Cup in Bogor City, West Java, on Monday, February 17, 2025.

The video of Reynard's violence against opposing players then went viral on social media so that it became public attention. The Perbasi DPP then gave him a sanction after holding a meeting with the General Chairperson Budisatrio Djiwandono on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

"Regarding the beating incident, based on the self-examination by the Perbasi DPP, Legal, Ethics, and Disciplinary Agency of the Perbasi DPP, it decided to impose sanctions on Reynard from SD SD Mardi Waluyo Cibinong in the form of a suspension or a ban on playing basketball for two years in all matches organized by Perbasi throughout Indonesia," said Budisatrio.

Budi held a closed-door meeting for an hour with the Secretary General of Perbasi Nirmala Dewi, Deputy for Human Resources Christopher Tanuwidjaja, and Chairman of the Legal, Ethics and Disciplinary Agency Fritz Edward Siregar before reading the decision.

This sentence is heavier than the one imposed by Perbasi Bogor. In their decision, they only imposed a one-year ban on playing basketball to Reynard for all matches organized by Perbasi Bogor City.

In addition, Perbasi also sentenced Attar Andi Taria, who is the Assistant Coach of SD Mardi Waluyo Cibinong. Attar took the name of the federation and urged the uploader of the beating video to lower his upload.

Attar Andi Taria was sanctioned for illegally using the name Perbasi in correspondence with third parties as well as negligence and omission against the behavior of the beating student, Reynardmen Sudirja.

"Therefore, the Perbasi DPP decided to freeze its coaching license for three years," said Budi.

Perbasi has also summoned the match referee. This summons is part of the Perbasi DPP investigation, especially regarding the chronology of the incident.

However, the referee was found not guilty. He was proven to have acted decisively after the beating by removing Reynard from the match when he entered the third quarter.
