Menpora Hopes Indonesia's Target At The 2024 Paris Olympics Is Achieved

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, hopes that Indonesia's target at the 2024 Paris Olympics can be achieved.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Indonesia has a total of 29 athletes who will participate in the four-year grand event.

"There are so many sports that the athletes first qualified for the Olympics. So, God willing, the results will also be able to make history," Dito said as quoted by the Kemenpora website.

The number of athletes sent by Indonesia this year is the most during the last 20 years.

Dito said that so far preparations for the Indonesian contingent to face the 2024 Paris Olympics have reached 80 percent.

"So, the remaining 20 percent is about what will happen to departure, administration, and adaptation in the field," he said.

Indonesia came to Paris with the target of bringing home more than two gold medals for the first time in the history of participating in the Olympics.

Indonesia's previous best achievement was two gold medals at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. The two saaat gold were contributed by the women's and men's singles badminton sport (sports).

In addition, Indonesia is also expected to be able to bring gold medals from other sports for the first time this year. So far, badminton is still the only sport that contributes gold to the Red and White Olympics.
