Fear Of Disruption Of Papuan KKB, 5,000 People Still Refuge In Intan Jaya Regency

JAYAPURA - As many as 5,000 residents of Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua, are currently reported to be still taking refuge in a number of places for fear of KKB disturbances.

"It is true from reports that thousands of residents are still evacuating to protect themselves from the KKB disturbances that have recently occurred," said Director of Criminal Investigation at the Papua Regional Police, Grand Commissioner Faizal Rahmadani, as quoted by Antara in Jayapura, Monday, November 1.

It is said, the locations where residents secure themselves are churches, and TNI-Polri posts around the Sugapa District.

On average, residents fled at night to avoid the actions carried out by the KKB, considering that the last few days there had been a shootout with the TNI-Polri.

However, currently, the situation is relatively conducive, including around the airport area where the generator house was burned and two vehicles parked, said Grand Commissioner Faizal.

Meanwhile, Intan Jaya Police Chief Grand Commissioner Adjutant Sandi Sultan separately emphasized that the TNI-Polri had now secured every location that had previously been a KKB crossing.
