15-year-old Boy Involved In Brawl Near Shangrila Hotel Positive For Marijuana

JAKARTA - Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief Commissioner of Police Singgih Hermawan confirmed that there was a brawl between motorcycle gangs from North Jakarta that occurred on Awaludin Street, near the Shangrila hotel, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

"Together with the police, we disbanded and secured seven perpetrators. Five of the perpetrators were adults, while two were minors," Commissioner of Police Singgih told reporters, Monday, November 1.

The police chief said that there were 50 motorcycle gangs involved in the brawl. The cause of the brawl was triggered by mocking each other so that a brawl occurred. The perpetrators were arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit and Pokdar of the Tanah Abang Police.

"From seven people we checked urine. Six people were negative, while one person was positive (cannabis-type drugs). One positive person was still a child with the initials A (15). A fit was arrested carrying a motorcycle chain," he said.

Until now, the Tanah Abang Metro Police have not received reports of victims of the brawl. After examining A, it turned out that A only lived with his mother, while his father had died.

"He hangs out with his friends, including when he uses marijuana. We are trying to rehabilitate the person in question, we will cooperate with rehab for free because it is the person who does not have it, nor does the gun exist," he said.

The police chief appealed to parents to look after their children.

"If necessary, a curfew is applied, so that children do not wander around at night, because they provoke commotion and brawls," he said.
