Ambulance Intercepted At Toll Road, Police Will Chase Silver Sedan Car Driver

JAKARTA - Amateur video footage managed to record a silver sedan that blocked the ambulance on the emergency lane of the Cibubur Toll Road towards Jakarta, East Jakarta. The video was uploaded to the Instagram account @kamerascene on Sunday, October 31, yesterday.

When confirmed, East Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Head, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Edi Surasa said his party was not aware of any information on the viral video that occurred in the East Jakarta jurisdiction.

"I don't know yet. I don't know what it's like, I don't know where the vehicle is. Let me first find out what it's like," he said when contacted by VOI, Monday 1 November.

While being asked about the SOP for emergency lanes on toll roads, he continued, ambulances as long as they carry sick people must be prioritized.

"(emergency lanes on toll roads) are actually like that. How many kilometers is it? Ambulances should be given priority. Public cars are not allowed, only certain vehicles are allowed to pass," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the incident, the Head of Unit said it was the toll road's authority. However, they will check.

"There should be action, a pursuit will be carried out. That is the authority of the toll road. It enters Jagorawi, how many kilometers is it?" he said.

Previously, it was reported that Sofwan, the ambulance driver, revealed that his trip was hampered when he picked up a critical patient on Sunday, October 31 at around 13.30 western Indonesia time, on the Cibubur Toll Road to Jakarta.

Sofwan said he got a call from someone who asked him to pick up the patient at Menten Atas, South Jakarta to be immediately taken to the hospital. The ambulance he will be taking departs from Cibubur, on Rawa Ilat Street, so it takes about 30 minutes to get to the patient pick-up point.

Rushing to Menteng Atas to pick up the patient, in the middle of the road Sofwan was stopped by a silver sedan with number B 1741 KBH.

"Yes, sir, at that time I wanted to pick up the patient. An elderly woman in critical condition in the Upper Menteng area. I already said, from my place to the location about 30 minutes. But the patient said it was okay. Yes, I'll pick you up right away. I am in a hurry because the patient is critical. But when there was a sedan on the road that didn't want to pull over, I had honked the horn many times,” said Sofwan.
