JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan announced the Hyundai G80 Genesis (Electrified G80) electric car as the official vehicle for the heads of delegations or state officials participating in the G20 Bali Summit (KTT) in 2022.

The announcement was made at the exhibition The Future Electric Vehicle Ecosystem for Indonesia, which was held by Hyundai.

"The President has said that Hyundai will be official in the G20 later. Coincidentally, I will also participate in managing the G20 later, we have confirmed that the Hyundai Genesis G80 full electric vehicle can be used as the official vehicle for the head of the delegation in Bali later," Luhut said as quoted by Antara, Monday, October 25.

According to Luhut, the selection of Hyundai electric vehicles was based on the fact that the South Korean company had invested in the electric vehicle industry.

"The government will use battery-based vehicles that have invested in Indonesia as official vehicles for the G20," he said.

Luhut said the Indonesian government did not cover the head of the delegation or VIP who did not want to use the official vehicle given.

"If the (head) of state doesn't want to use it because it's bulletproof, that's his business. But every head of state will get a Hyundai Genesis G80 vehicle," said Luhut.

Separately, in a written statement, Global Head of the Genesis Brand Jay Chang said his party was fully prepared to provide the necessary support for the smooth running of the world-class conference.

"This appointment is an honor for us to be able to present the Electrified G80 at the 2022 G20 Bali Summit," he said.
