In that incident, 35 residents of Beting Village, Koja, North Jakarta experienced nausea and vomiting, allegedly after eating the rice box distributed by PSI North Jakarta.

As many as 23 people were treated at the Koja Hospital, but 18 people have been allowed to go home, so that the remaining five people are still being treated.

Acting Chairperson of PSI Giring Ganesha asked DKI Jakarta PSI cadres to continue to accompany a number of victims suspected of being poisoned by rice boxes which were distributed to residents of Beting Village, Koja, North Jakarta for 24 hours.

"We're here for a real sense of sympathy and responsibility," said Giring.

Giring then cupped his hands in front of him while apologizing to the public for the incident.

Previously, North Jakarta PSI DPD chairman Darma Utama also promised to provide compensation to victims of suspected poisoning, residents of Beting Village, Koja, North Jakarta.

Darma added that his party had conducted an internal investigation so that cases like this would not be repeated.

"To date, more than 300 thousand (rice boxes) have been distributed throughout Indonesia. So far, there have been no problems at all. An incident like the one in Beting Village was the first time," said Darma Utama.
