ANIES Volunteers Believe Anies Can Follow Jokowi's Footsteps: From Governor Of DKI To President

JAKARTA - Volunteers for the Prosperous Indonesia National Alliance (ANIES) believe that DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan can follow in the footsteps of Joko Widodo, who is currently President of the Republic of Indonesia, after previously serving as Governor of DKI.

ANIES Coordinator, La Ode Basir said that Jokowi, who has only been in charge of Jakarta for two years, was able to take part in the 2014 presidential election. Seeing these conditions, he, Anies, could follow this step.

"Mr. Jokowi, our current President has led Jakarta. This means, with that provision, Mr. Jokowi has worked quite well for Jakarta. Moreover, Mr. Anies, who has worked in Jakarta for more than 5 years. Jokowi only has almost 2 years in charge of Jakarta, especially Mr. Anies. I think it will be much better", said La Ode when contacted, Friday, October 22.

ANIES is a volunteer group that some time ago declared Anies as a presidential candidate in the 2024 General Election. La Ode said that this volunteer group was formed from various components of society.

He said ANIES volunteers were formed to facilitate supporters to increase Anies' electability. Because they consider the former Minister of Education and Culture worthy of a political contest in 2024.

"The alliance aims to become a forum to facilitate Anies supporters to move more massively to increase Anies' electability and popularity", said La Ode.

"What is being offered is Anies' success in leading Jakarta, we will socialize this. If this is well socialized, the public will know and support Pak Anies as a presidential candidate for 2024", he continued.

However, La Ode mentioned the declaration that they echoed some time ago without first communicating with Anies.

"We didn't tell him ourselves. Our interest is to see that he has achievements and it's our job to share this achievement so that it doesn't belong to the citizens of DKI but all Indonesians", he concluded.
