Banten Police Chief Complained to Propam After Brimob Members Banned Students

JAKARTA - Banten Police Chief Inspector General Rudy Heriyanto Adi Nugroho was reported by the Banten Student POROS to the National Police Propam (The Police's Professional and Security Division). This complaint is related to the unprofessionalism following the action of Brimob members who slammed students.

"Violating the security procedures for demonstrations (related) students were slammed in Tangerang", said the General Chairperson of the Banten POROS Central Executive, Mukhlas, when confirmed, Monday, October 18.

According to Mukhlas, this is not the first time that this complaint was made because the police's repressive actions in securing demonstrations were not the first time this had happened. According to him, there have been three violent acts by the police in the Banten area

"The action of the police in carrying out a smackdown in Tangerang is not a single event", said Mukhlas.

"We noted that in the last three quarters, three times, on September 13, 2021, there was a similar action, namely that members of the police took repressive actions against students who were holding demonstrations regarding the Official Travel Budget at the Pandeglang DPRD, then actions outside the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) PROTAP NO. 1 of 2010 addressing the mass demonstration occurred during the action that was held to welcome the 21st Anniversary of Banten Province, on October 4, 2021", continued Mukhlas.

Complaints against the Banten Police Chief are registered in the Propam Complaint Letter of Acceptance with the number SPSP2/3726/X/2021/Bagyanduan, dated October 18.

Previously, Banten Police Chief Inspector General Rudy Heriyanto Adi Nugroho had apologized to Faris. Then, promise to solve the problem.

"The Banten Police Chief has apologized for the mistakes of his members and stated that he would be responsible for this problem and would process the violations of his subordinates", said Ramadhan.

Then, the masses tried to constantly approach the Tangerang Regent's Office. However, they were blocked by dozens of security forces from entering the building

This resulted in pushing and shoving with the police, leading to clashes between students and the police.
