Samarinda Is Surrounded By Floods, The Samarinda-Bontang Route Is Paralyzed

JAKARTA - The city of Samarinda, East Kalimantan has been under siege from flooding since around 07.00 local time, due to moderate and heavy rains that have poured evenly in the city from midnight to Monday at 08.00 a.m.

"Since two hours ago, or around 8 o'clock, we have been trapped here," said Murdino, one of the drivers whose car could not penetrate the flooded Mugirejo Simpang Tiga, when met by Antara in Samarinda, Monday, October 18.

The car driven by Murdino was not the only one stuck on Jalan DI Panjaitan, there were dozens of other cars that experienced the same thing on the same road.

This flood even paralyzed the Samarinda-Bontang route because many vehicles could not pass. Meanwhile, in Bukit Alaya there were dozens of cars lining up because the vehicle in front of them was caught in a flood.

A number of houses and shops of residents also appeared to be flooded, such as a fruit shop on Jalan DI Panjaitan which flooded about 40 cm. According to the shop owner, the flood began to enter his house at 08.00 local time.

Meanwhile, in Gang Bugis, Mugirejo Village, a number of residents' houses were flooded due to the abundant ditch, including Wulandari's house, where the front of the house was used as a shop was flooded up to 30 cm.

Based on observations, a number of areas that were submerged in water due to heavy rains, including Gerilya Street, Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Street, Pasundan Street, Kadrie Oening Street, Cendana Street, Cipto Mangunkusumo Street.

Then the Lempake area, the Sempaja area, Damanhuri Street, the Great Garden area, Lambung Mangkurat Street, Ahmad Yani Street, Suryanata Street, and the Mount Lingai area.
