Minister Of KKP: There Is No Cross Of Opinion With The Indonesian Navy Regarding The Tangerang Illegal Sea Fence

JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono emphasized that there was no disagreement between himself and the ranks of the Indonesian Navy regarding the demolition of illegal marine fences in Tangerang, Banten.

"What is certain is that there is no disagreement, we agree," said Trenggono at the Jakarta Presidential Palace Complex, Monday, January 20, as reported by ANTARA.

He ensured that the coordination between the two parties was going well. Trenggono said that his party would hold a coordination meeting with the ranks of the Indonesian Navy on Wednesday (22/1) morning.

Then in the afternoon on the same day, the ranks of the Ministry of KKP in synergy with the Indonesian Navy continued to demolish the 30.16 kilometer long sea fence in these waters.

"So it was finally agreed, so it was not a disagreement. So I conveyed to the KSAL that I had to have evidence first, sir (before the sea fence was dismantled). Be patient, yes, we will give the deadline until Wednesday, oke agreed. So later together on Wednesday," said Trenggono.

Trenggono revealed that the problem related to the sea fence had been reported to President Prabowo Subianto, and the Head of State gave directions so that the case was thoroughly investigated.

Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid, he said, had also revealed the findings of the sea fence Building Use Certificate (SHGB) in Tangerang.

"The Minister of ATR/BPN has explained, how come there are certificates under the water, and that is not allowed. So from there we can identify them, meaning whether they are from them, but we must not accuse either, yes," he said.

The Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries emphasized that the demolition of the sea fence could be completed this week, so that fishermen could resume their daily activities, after the sea route was opened.

The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KSAL) Admiral Muhammad Ali previously said that coordination with Minister Trenggono, Deputy Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Didit Herdiawan Ashaf and his staff was an effort to evaluate the demolition of the sea fence in the waters.

"So this morning we together with the Minister and the Deputy Minister carried out an evaluation of how to do well, which is safe, fast and practical to be able to accelerate, help the difficulties of fishing communities," Ali said in a statement in Jakarta, Monday.

Ali said the effort was in accordance with instructions from President Prabowo Subianto to help fishermen affected by the presence of the sea fence.
