Considered Negligent, Batam Mayor Replaces Tanjungbuntung Health Center Head

BATAM - The Mayor of Batam, Riau Islands, Muhammad Rudi, replaced the head of the Tanjungbuntung Health Center, who was deemed negligent in providing services to residents, causing the life of a child victim to drown.

"That's why I changed it directly. There was a report from the RW," said the Mayor in Batam, as reported by Antara, Friday, October 15.

He said, as a leader, the Head of the Puskesmas must be responsible for his subordinates. Whatever the obstacles in service to patients, whether it's an ambulance problem or something else.

The mayor immediately inaugurated the new Head of the Tanjungbuntung Puskesmas UPT, namely Pra Reda Gusti, along with five other city government officials. He hopes that the newly inaugurated Head of the Health Center can make improvements so that the same thing does not happen again.

Meanwhile, the old head of the Puskesmas was returned to his function as a doctor.

The Regional Head also deliberately invited all the heads of the local puskesmas to learn lessons from the case that had gone viral on social media.

"I invite everyone, with this they can learn. All are adults. Why can they answer instead," he said. Meanwhile, on social media, a video circulated of a child who drowned who died after not receiving service from the puskesmas.

There is no doctor on duty at the Puskesmas, nor can the ambulance driver be contacted to take him to the hospital for treatment.

"From the RSBK doctor's statement, it took too long to be handled at the puskesmas, so we consider this the negligence of the puskesmas that allowed the life of a small child to go forever," said a voice in the video.

The man in the video asked Mayor Muhammad Rudi to look into the case.
