Oesman Sapta Odang Behind Wiranto's Resignation From Hanura

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Wiranto stated that he was resigning from his position as Chairman of the Hanura Party Advisory Council. This step was taken by Wiranto because he did not want to continue to conflict with the Chairman of the Hanura Party, Oesman Sapta Odang (OSO).

"Nothing. Even though I said earlier in this, the supervisory board does not actually need to resign. I don't need to resign. However, I see that the National Conference has a different spirit, right. Has a different spirit and spirit. And always wants to conflict with the chairman of the advisory board. How about a brother like me? Can you stand it? Are you at home? " said Wiranto in a press conference at the Atlet Century Park Hotel, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 18.

Wiranto dismissed allegations that his move was due to pressure from the OSO. According to him, all of this was for the sake of the party he founded to keep running and away from conflict.

"So, it's not because of that. My political awareness, let this party be calm. This party continues to fight. So it's not because of pressure, no. I was urged not to want to, the more I was being urged not to resign," he explained.

In addition, the former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs decided to resign from the party management structure because he wanted to focus on his new duties as Chair of President Jokowi's Presidential Advisory Board for the 2019-2024 period.

"At this time, I am declaring that I am resigning from the Chairman of the Hanura Advisory Council. Why? This is my awareness. I am always oriented towards my main task. Currently, I am assigned by the President as Chair of the Presidential Advisory Council," he explained.

However, during the question and answer session, Wiranto's emotions were unstoppable when asked by the media crew about the steps that would be taken to save the party he founded. Moreover, he had chosen to resign.

"There are still many other people who really care for this party. How could my National Conference be not invited? Then asked to insist on retaining the position of chairman of the board of trustees. You try to think critically rationally. I am not respected as a party founder, not respected as a person who struggles. raising the party for ten years, "said Wiranto in a high tone.

Wiranto's disappointment was clearly reflected on his face when he revealed the fact that he was not considered as the founder of the party.

In fact, as the person who gave the way for OSO to become chairman by acclamation in 2016, he was not invited to attend the National Conference held by OSO.

"Even being scolded, accused of being a traitor and so on. In other ways, I will certainly continue to build this party," he explained.

OSO was asked to resign

Wiranto also touched on the integrity pact. He asked Oso to resign from his position. Because, he considered that the OSO had violated the integrity pact that had been agreed upon when he was appointed chairman.

"So, we remind you, there is a commitment to resign, if the requirements (of the integrity pact) are not met," he said.

Wiranto said that in 2016 he was asked by President Joko Widodo to become the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam). At that time, Wiranto did not want to hold concurrent positions and chose to give up the throne of general chairman of Hanura.

Long story short, Hanura held an extraordinary national meeting (munaslub) at Bambu Apus Jakarta. Wiranto invited OSO to become one of the candidates for chairman of Hanura to replace him.

Wiranto admitted that he did a scenario in such a way so that OSO was elected by acclamation. Behind the appointment of OSO, said Wiranto, there was an integrity pact that was jointly signed. The signing of the integrity pact was witnessed by two senior Hanura politicians, Subagyo HS and Chairuddin Ismail.

According to Wiranto, several points of the integrity pact, namely the OSO promised to only lead Hanura until 2019. Then, OSO would also comply with the Hanura organizational guidelines.

In addition, said Wiranto, OSO promised to increase Hanura's vote in the 2019 Election. OSO also promised to bring 36 DPD colleagues to become Hanura legislative candidates in the 2019 Pileg. If this was not obeyed, Wiranto said OSO would be relieved to resign.

"For that, we ask you knightly to step down as chairman. That's the courtesy. There are two witnesses who have signed," he said.
