Yangwang Successfully Sends 10 Thousand Luxury Electric Car Units In China, Evidence Of BYD's Power

JAKARTA Yangwang, an ultra-luxury brand under the auspices of auto giant BYD, is proud to announce the achievement of delivery of the 10,000th unit. Obviously this is an extraordinary achievement for local brands that have just set foot in the super premium car segment.

Launching CNEVPOST, Monday, April 21, this news was announced directly by Yangwang through today's Weibo platform. More specifically, the 10,000th unit was handed over to the prominent Chinese figure, Yu Minhong, founder of the well-known New Oriental education group.

This is not the first time Yu Minhong has become part of the BYD extended family. In December 2020, he received directly a BYD Han EV from the hands of the chairman and president of BYD, Wang Chuanfu. This time, Yu Minhong re-trusted his choice to BYD's innovation by receiving the key to a luxury offroad SUV, Yangwang U8. The handover of this prestigious unit was carried out by the head of Yangwang's sales, Hu Xiaoqing.

For information, Yangwang was launched on January 5, 2023, with ambitions to challenge the ultra-luxury car market with price tag starting from 1 million yuan (around IDR 2.3 billion). This step shows BYD's seriousness in penetrating all market segments, including the most exclusive.

The first model of Yangwang, the U8 SUV, was officially introduced on September 20, 2023, with the opening price of 1.098 million yuan. This car immediately caught the eye thanks to its futuristic design and amazing electrical-powered performance.

It did not stop there, on February 25, 2024, Yangwang again hit the market by launching his second model, U9, a two-seater electric supercar with an initial price of 1.68 million yuan. The presence of U9 further emphasized that Yangwang's image as a serious player in the high-performance luxury car scene.

Last March, Yangwang's product line was expanded again with the launch of the U7 sedan, which is priced from 628,000 yuan. The move shows model diversification to reach consumers with different preferences.

In fact, last week, Yangwang gave a little leak of its latest model, U8L, through two images. Although the details are still kept secret, Yangwang hints that U8L will be a "big" model and is scheduled to debut on the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show 2025.
