Charity Box Specialist Thief In Action At 15 Mamuju Mosques Arrested

MAMUJU - The Mamuju Police Criminal Investigation Unit, West Sulawesi (Sulbar) arrested a specialist who stole mosque charity boxes.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Mamuju Police AKP Pandu Arief Setiawan said that the perpetrator of the theft of the mosque charity box specialist with the initials Fjr (21), a resident of Majene Regency, was arrested while carrying out his action at the Nurul Muttahida Mosque, on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Mamuju District.

"It is true, we have arrested an alleged perpetrator of theft of money, a specialist in mosque charity boxes. The residents were arrested while stealing the charity box of the Nurul Muttahida mosque on Saturday (9/10) early in the morning at around 01:40 WITA," said Pandu Arief Setiawan, quoted by Antara. , Monday, October 11th.

He said that Fjr was caught by the mosque guard while he was in action prying one of the charity boxes inside the Nurul Muttahida Mosque using a screwdriver.

The perpetrator, said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, entered the mosque by prying open the door of the mosque using a crowbar.

"From the results of the examination, the perpetrator admitted that he had acted in 15 mosques in Mamuju Regency. In fact, the perpetrator had stolen money three times in the charity box of the Nurul Muttahida Mosque," he said.

"The modus operandi used by the perpetrators was to go around Mamuju to look for a deserted mosque to be targeted. The perpetrators acted between 01.00 and 03.00 WITA," said Pandu Arief Setiawan.

To the police, Fjr admitted that the money from stealing charity boxes in a number of mosques reached Rp. 8 to Rp. 9 million.

"The money that was stolen from the charity box was partly used to support his wife and partly used by the suspect himself for extravagance," said Pandu Arief Setiawan.

The perpetrator has been named a suspect and carries a sentence of seven years in prison.

"Because it has been repeated so that the threat of punishment can be increased by a third," said Pandu.
